What we do for bathrooms
Some people want the whole room taken back to studs. Others want the vanity gone, the floor changed and the room to stop looking like 1994. We do both, and we will tell you honestly which one your bathroom actually needs.
What we handle ourselves
- Full bathroom remodels, from tear-out to final walk-through
- Tile — floors, shower walls, niches, benches, curbless pans
- Waterproofing — membrane, sealed penetrations, flood test before tile
- Tub-to-shower conversions
- Vanity replacement, single or double
- Drywall repair, skim coating and painting
- Glass shower doors, mirrors, hardware
- Small refresh work — paint, fixtures, trim
What goes to a licensed trade
Straightforward fixture swaps on existing connections we handle. Anything that changes the plumbing or electrical itself — moving a drain, adding circuits, relocating a panel feed — goes to a properly licensed and insured plumber or electrician we work with regularly. Their work appears as its own line on your estimate so you can see what it costs and who is doing it. Where a permit is required, that is part of the conversation before anything starts, not after.
Real waterproofing, not shortcuts. Every shower we build gets a proper membrane, sealed penetrations and a flood test before a single tile goes down. That is the difference between a shower that is still dry in twenty years and one that leaks in two.
What makes a Florida bathroom different
You are on a slab. No crawl space, no basement. Moving a drain means cutting concrete, which is a different job and a different price from putting a vanity where the old one was. The first thing we look at is whether your new layout can keep the existing drain locations — when it can, the whole project gets cheaper and faster.
Humidity makes ventilation a real decision. An undersized or badly ducted exhaust fan is why bathrooms here grow mildew in the corners and why paint fails above the shower. If yours vents into the attic instead of outside, we will say so.
Condo work has its own rules. In Venice, Nokomis and the island buildings, the association usually sets the work hours, the elevator reservation, how debris leaves the building, and who may shut the water off. Some require proof of insurance from every trade on site before anyone starts. We would rather read those rules with you at the walk-through than find out on day one.
Older buildings, older pipes. In the mid-century condos and houses around here, opening a wall sometimes reveals cast iron drain line that is at the end of its life. We will not tile over a pipe we would not want in our own house — we will show you what we found and what it changes before we carry on.

What a bathroom remodel costs in Southwest Florida
Priced by scope, but these are real ranges from jobs we have done:
Small refresh (paint, vanity, mirror, floor swap): $4,500 – $8,000
Mid remodel (new tile floor + shower surround + vanity + fixtures): $9,000 – $16,000
Full remodel (down to studs, custom shower, premium finishes): $18,000 – $30,000+
What moves the number most: whether drains stay where they are, the tile size and pattern, whether the shower is curbless, and what shows up behind the walls. Every estimate is written line-item, so you see exactly what you are paying for.
How long it takes
- Small refresh: three to five days
- Mid-level remodel with tile: eight to fourteen days
- Full gut renovation: three to four weeks
Estimates, not promises. Material lead times and a wet week both have a vote, and in a condo the association's work-hour rules can stretch a schedule on their own.
Frequently asked
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A small refresh is usually three to five days. A mid-level remodel with tile runs eight to fourteen days. A full gut renovation is typically three to four weeks depending on custom work and material lead times.
Do I need to move out during the remodel?
No, as long as there is another bathroom in the house. We seal the work area and keep the rest of the home usable. If it is your only bathroom, we will plan the sequence so you are without it for as few days as possible.
Do you do the plumbing and electrical?
Simple swaps on existing connections, yes. Moving drains, adding circuits or anything that changes the systems themselves goes to a properly licensed and insured trade we work with, shown as its own line on your estimate.
Can you move the shower or toilet to a different wall?
Usually, but on a slab it means cutting concrete and re-routing the drain, which changes both the price and the timeline. We will tell you at the walk-through whether your new layout can use the existing drains — if it can, the project gets noticeably cheaper.
Do you work in condos?
Yes, and we read the association's rules before we start — work hours, elevator use, debris removal, water shut-off and insurance requirements for everyone on site.
What if you find something behind the wall?
You hear about it the day we find it, with photos and what it changes, before we keep going. Old cast iron drain line is the most common one here.
Can you make the shower curbless?
Often yes. It depends on the floor build-up available and where the drain sits. It is worth asking about if anyone in the house is thinking ahead about mobility.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — a 1-year workmanship warranty on every project, in writing. If something is not right, we come back and fix it at no charge.
