Kitchen work we handle
A kitchen is the biggest project most homeowners take on, and the one where the difference between careful and rushed shows every single day. We work with cabinet suppliers across Sarasota County — the Home Depot pro desk, IKEA, and semi-custom local shops — so you are not locked into one source.
What we do ourselves
- Cabinet installation, assembled or flat-pack
- Countertops — quartz, butcher block, laminate
- Backsplash tile — subway, mosaic, full height
- Cabinet painting — prep, prime, sprayed finish
- Island builds and cabinet modifications
- Under-cabinet LED on existing supply
- Flooring replacement — LVP, tile, hardwood
- Drywall repair, skim coating and painting
- Hardware, trim and the fit-and-finish nobody notices until it is wrong
What goes to a licensed trade
Connecting an appliance where the supply already exists, we handle. New circuits, moving a gas line, relocating plumbing for an island, venting a range hood through the roof or wall — those go to a properly licensed and insured electrician, plumber or HVAC contractor we work with regularly, shown as their own line on your estimate. If a permit is needed, we raise it before the job starts, not halfway through.
Cabinets are most of what you see. We take the extra time getting them level, plumb and scribed to walls that are never quite straight. Rushed cabinet installs are the main reason a kitchen looks wrong six months later, and it is almost always doors that no longer line up.
Planning a kitchen in a Florida house
Keep the plumbing where it is, if you can. On a slab, moving the sink means cutting concrete and re-routing drain — a different job at a different price. The single biggest lever on a kitchen budget here is whether the new layout can live with the existing drain and supply locations. We look at that first and tell you what it saves.
Range hood venting is worth doing properly. A recirculating hood is simpler, but in a closed-up house with the AC running, cooking moisture and grease have nowhere to go. If a vented hood is practical we will say so, and if it means going through the roof we will say what that costs rather than quietly skipping it.
Condo kitchens have rules. Association work hours, elevator reservations, where the debris goes, who may shut off the water — same as bathrooms. Worth reading before the cabinets arrive, not after.
Lead times decide your schedule more than we do. Semi-custom cabinets and stone counters are ordered, measured, then fabricated. We sequence around those dates and tell you the honest start, not the one you want to hear.
Kitchen refresh — when you do not need the whole thing
Not every kitchen needs gutting. If the boxes are sound and the layout works, painting the cabinets, changing the hardware, replacing the counters and adding a backsplash transforms the room for a fraction of a full remodel. We will tell you honestly which of your two options makes sense — including when the answer is the cheaper one.

What a kitchen costs in Southwest Florida
Every project is different, but these are the ranges we see on real jobs around Sarasota, Venice and North Port:
Cabinet refresh (paint, hardware, backsplash): $4,000 – $9,000
Mid remodel (new cabinets, counters, backsplash, flooring): $18,000 – $35,000
Full gut with layout changes: $40,000+
What moves it most: whether plumbing stays put, the cabinet line you choose, counter material, and whether a licensed trade is needed for electrical or gas.
How long it takes
- Cabinet refresh: one to two weeks
- Mid remodel with new cabinets and counters: three to five weeks
- Full gut with layout changes: six to ten weeks, including material lead times
Counters are templated after cabinets are set, then fabricated — that gap is usually one to two weeks and it is built into every realistic kitchen schedule.
FAQ
Can we live at home during the remodel?
Yes, most people do. We set up a temporary kitchen area, keep dust contained and time the appliance disconnects around when you actually need them.
Do you supply cabinets or do I buy them?
Either works. If you supply them there is no markup — just labour. If we source them we add a 15–20% material handling fee and you skip the pickup and the coordination.
What about electrical and plumbing work?
Hookups on existing supply, yes. New circuits, gas, or relocating plumbing go to licensed trades we work with, as their own line on your estimate.
Can you move the sink or the range?
Usually, but on a slab it means cutting concrete to re-route drain, which changes the price and the timeline. Ask at the site visit — keeping the existing locations is the biggest single saving available on a kitchen here.
Is painting the cabinets worth it, or should I replace them?
If the boxes are solid and the layout works, painting is usually the better value by a wide margin. If the boxes are failing or the layout fights you every day, paint only postpones the real job. We will tell you which one you have.
How long do countertops take?
They are templated once the cabinets are set, then fabricated — typically one to two weeks between those two steps. Any kitchen schedule that does not allow for it is not a real schedule.
Do you work in condos?
Yes. We read the association's rules first — work hours, elevator use, debris removal and insurance requirements for everyone on site.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — a 1-year workmanship warranty in writing on every project.
